Antique Bakelite Goggles - Rosie the Riveter

We found these beauties languishing in an antique store in Indiana. They are made from red and brown "tortoise-shell" or marbled bakelite, and feature removeable lenses, fantastic side vents, and a patterned elastic strap. The lenses are dark green and have a few scratches but are in surprisingly good condition considering the age of the goggles. The elastic strap is in good shape but the elastic is old and will slide through the buckle, so you can't rely on the strap to keep the goggles tight to your head. The goggles are missing their original nose strap, which should be fairly easy to replace with a small piece of leather and a buckle, and which has been replaced with a metal "handle" bar that holds the two eyepieces of the goggles together. K's favorite thing about these goggles? They fit over her glasses frames!

The goggles measure 6.5" wide from side to side and are 3.5" tall from the top of the "handle" to the bottom of the frame. The frames are 3.75" deep from the front of the lens to the back of the temple piece. The lenses extend 1.25" forward from where the goggles frame rests against the forehead. The viewable area of the lenses are 1.75" in diameter, and the screw-on pieces that hold the lenses are 2.125" in diameter.
